Does anyone know the routine to ENABLE the difflock of my Discovery?
It has traction control, and the diff-lock isn't enabled.
The Hi-Lo change lever will not move sideways at all.

I have been told that some of these cars have most of the bits in place to enable diff-locking.

It's MY car, and I want DIFFLOCK when I choose!

If you have the diff lock stud on your unit you will only require the linkage parts, to determine this you will need to find the transfer case serial number and check it starts with either 41D or 42D.

If it starts 61D, 62D, 69D or 70D then you will need the diff lock parts.

aye, theres was about 2 yrs production of discos, when LR in their wisdom, left off the diff lock, then put it back again!
from memory it was about c2000?

no doubt someone here will tell you the dates concerned.

I was browsing the Discoparts web site the other day, and they offer both a manual and leccy linkage system.

Worth a look, don't know if anybody has tried fitting one..

Hi,
I have one of the last Disco 2's made and it hasn't diff lock fitted.

A friend of mine has an older one with conventional diff lock fitted, mine with traction control by far out performs in the sticky stuff.

Having said that I know you can buy and fit either the original mechanical diff lock linkage (get 2nd hand as LR would be extortionate) or the elec solinoid system (but I have heard they are more trouble than worth)
