I have a 2003 disco TD5 auto diesel. Occasionally the traction control and (!) warning lights will illuminate together whilst driving. The lights go out again when I restart the car and might not come on again for weeks. There is no pattern - not on rough or bumpy ground. Today it happened just as I drove into a car park. Lights weren't on when I restarted the car a couple of hours later and didn't come back on for rest of day. Any ideas please? Thanks. Paul

I dont know if this is of much use to you but I have a 2001 TD5 manual with 200,000 miles, and the "three amigos" (HDC, ABS, TC) used to appear periodically and then disappear for weeks. Now they dont disappear! mores the pity. Test book says it is faulty rear left hand, ABS sensor.

Hi Guys.

I have a 52 plate Td5 Disco and my HDC ABS & TC lights used to come on intermittently. I had a friend with a 'code-reader' but that just said 'no fault found' so eventually I took it to my local independent LR expert (and he really does know them inside and out) and he plugged in his 'gizmo' and said 'Aaaah!'

The fault was one of the micro-switches at the base of (I think he said) the ABS unit. It is wired through the unit, and the wires chafe. He said this is very common. To cure it they bypass this wiring, and if that doesn't clear the fault, then they replace the micro-switch(es), which is what they did to mine.

He had the car about 2 hours (he had others in to work on, so it may have been quicker). Total cost was around £100. Hope this helps!
