morning all ‍♂️

Our MOT is due in a few days and having looked through the paperwork I can’t find conclusively if we need to have this undertaken by a main dealer (we’re in a PCP deal).

The PCP is with a main dealer but they are some distance from where we live.

This is the first time we’ve had it MOT’d and are under a 1 warranty scheme on some parts if they need replacing.

if anyone has experience with this could advise please it’d be most appreciated.

Many thanks

Doubt very much your main dealer will do mot testing. most likely use a place around the corner, ring and ask them.
I would say an mot is an mot regardless, plus an independent mot can only be good for you.

Your main agent will charge the full price for an MOT where by local MOT garages are cheaper.
No you do not have to take it to the main agent. Any MOT station will do it and this will not affect any contract you may have.

All MOTs should be done to the "same " standard, so it shouldn't matter were you go.

But;)

I was also under the impression that the cost of the MOT was fixed so everywhere charged the same, Been out of the UK a while so not sure.

The correct price is ££54 or £59 ish but I only pay £32 from Formular One.
Many garages give discounts as they get more money when they repair the fault on your car if there is one.
There is a laid down cost but garages can charge what they like.

Some main dealers do their own mot's. As above yer don't need to use them for an mot. An independent will be ok.
