Hi fellow lanners,

Ok here goes...

I got LR Disco1 2.0L MPI, and it failed n MOT test about 4 monhs ago. This really ticked me off and I took it out on the Land Rover by putting it in a box (Girlfriends garage) and leaveing it there... I now realise what a waste :( and i should love the car that give me so many exciting experiences.

Now im not a mechanic, and need to replace the REAR DISCS as they are badly pitted... so here goes;

:confused:****Would rear discs from a deisel Disco from the same year fit on my petrol (MPI) Disco? I am buyin new and want to try to aviod going through expensive car dealers or mechanics?***:confused:

Thanks in advance...and my aologies if this question is elsewhere on the forum?

regards

get the right brakes for the motor.nothing morer important than stopping a motor.You cant crash it if it dont move.The right discs wont be any dearer.

thanks for the quick reply goonarmy...

And yes i see where you are coming from as its only common sense really.... ill have a look online see what i can see :)

Thanks again

The tdi injun is more powerful than the mpui injun.The brakes on a car have to be more powerful than the injun(or else it wont stop). Therefore if the brakes are all Tdi spec then thats fine. But chck first, should be easy enough.Check with paddocks/craddocks online.

Your vehicle was built at a time when Land Rover were trying to rationalise parts.especially axles & brakes, so I would be very surprised if the Mpi has different brakes to the Tdi

there was also a very recent thread on changing discs, methods in there may help when you come to do the job.

thanks everyone for the replies..

I will now order the parts and hopefully when all is good my little disco will be MOT passworthy and life will be restored her!

Thanks again peeps!

do new wheel bearings while you are at it... easy enough to do and wont cost you a fortune.
