Hi, i am still undergoing my massive rebuild, my friend is currently working out the wiring for my crazy set up! im gonna have TDCI dash, TD5 Speedo/instrument panel, R380 Discovery gear box with original defender 300tdi engine, the problem we have at the moment is the speedo transducer ordered to work with the TD5 speedo doesnt fit the discovery gear box, could anyone shed some light on possible solutions? well out of my depth hear, im more of a bodywork man than electrics!

Doesn't fit the disco gearbox? The disco should be a R380 but the speedo goes into the transfer box. The transfer box is the same on the disco as the defender other than the ratio. I've done this with a TD5 dash into a Defender if you have any questions.

I believe some later Disco transfer boxes do not have a speedo drive as those vehicles used the ABS sensors to detect vehicle speed.

i brought a td5 transducer hoping it would fit, but it wont fit in the transfer box as the one that's in it is a different size? im unsure what year the gearbox and transfer box are out of a disco?

Have you got a picture of the parts?

These are the images my friend sent me who is sorting out the electrics, well trying to at least! i dont know the first thing about electrics!

he has been following the retroanaconda guide as linked above as well and i ordered the speedo transducer that is linked on the website!

Would the second part fit into the speedo drive in picture one? Then put the whole lot back into the transfer box as was.

Myself and fanatic added a speedo drive to a td5 disco transfer box. Here is a pic of the defender drive alongside the disco blank.

the new speedo transducer square end is too big to fit into the gear? do i need to buy the above speedo drives to rectify this?

The drive on the left in the pic shows a long collar with no actual drive. The one on the right shows a short collar with a drive. We simply switched the two over. Did yours not come with any type of drive at all?
