Can anyone give me some advice. I would like to move the rear wheels back to balance the truck out. Would a ten inch extension to the wheel base like you can buy for a defender 90 work. Or should the chassis be extended. At the minute the chassis is untouched. How would this affect testing.

There's a reason Defenders come in a range of sizes ...
 
It's got more of a life now than it would of had before. All the rot gone new lease of life. Just uglier.

Technically you're not changing the weight class of the vehicle just a re chassis so I would say you were fine.

Moving an axle backwards would be almost as much hassle as changing the chassis wouldn't it? (Rhetorical question)

But if you wanted to then I would be more inclined to relocate a bar mounts and spring mounts further back on existing chassis. Or a second axle and six wheel motor

thought it would have to be a 130 though as you replaced the disco chassis with a different model ?
 
Sorry Dr Evil I'm not understanding what you mean.

If you're saying that by changing the original discovery chassis to a defender 130 chassis, you're effectively going to have to register it as a defender, I'm not sure that I would agree.

Not saying that I'm right though, this is just a guess on my part based on the majority of the vehicle being a discovery.

Converting a discovery over to a 100 inch defender, I would say register as a defender as the majority of the vehicle will be defender.

I thought it'd work out as a defender with a disco body which is why I said that, not sure if I'm right either though
 
All I would say is that if it were me replacing the chassis, I would not use the reg or weight class of the new replacement chassis, but work from the angle that I have modified the wheelbase of a discovery.
 
Why not chop the chassis to get rid of over hang?

This was my first thought. I like this idea but again do you lot think this would put me on the wrong side of the law. Thanks for any advice you might have.
