Hi Guys,

Might have seen me posting on the disco forum before, But... i went out and bought a cheap 1986 Land Rover 90, Unfortunately its currently a 2.5 N/A, But will be changing it for something different when i have the time and space to do so...

But now my question is, i will be breaking the disco 1 300tdi that i have as the body is rusty, a shame as the chassis is great...

Are there any parts of the disco 1 that are a good bolt on upgrade for the 90 before i start selling the parts?

i did a quick search and noticed something about the axles?

Any help would be appreciated!

Why not just cut the mounts from the discovery chassis and weld them in place on the 90?

Worth keeping the front seats?

Or you could do that as well. you've got to chop into the chassis though and as he said chassis was good mite of been useful to someone who has a rotter.

As Danny said, great chassis on her, would rather not cut as it would seem a real waste!

Currently has Proton Satria GTI seats in the front, but i also have bucket seats, but not sure how to fix them as theres no top to the seat box? i would be using side mountings on the bucket seats anyway and only maybe putting them is just because they are lying around doing nothing...

P.S, Please excuse my silly novice questions, i really should know more about land rovers considering i used to rally and i drive a recovery truck!

If the 2.5 N/A is running OK, why DFNL would you want to change it for a 300TDi??

The NAD is solid and reliable, and if tuned properly is economical and will cruise at 70+mph!!

I love my 1990 2.5 normally aspirated engine!

Have a read of my thread .. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/my-new-old-defender-248534.html

My Disco 300tdi went swimming a while back, we couldn't fix the electrics (they burnt out too) so it was set aside and I bought a cheapish '89 90TD .. So far swapped the axles, all suspension bits, snorkel, will soon be using the 100A alternator, the engine (minimal wiring loom, re-worked FP and fuel solenoid) to replace the 19j and anything else I can think of ... ;)

What does DFNL mean?

Thanks for the reply guys!

I understand this might sound extremely daft to most of you, but if you don't ask you will never learn! :p

What's the advantage of having disco axles rather than the 90 ones? Stronger i suspect?

Going to see a guy tomorrow that wants to buy the whole disco :/, but we will see what works out best for me as i obviously could do with some parts off the disco, but hes a breaker so might work out a deal to suit both of us...
