The Saudi spec grille is unrestricted so that there is maximum air flow for the AC, radiator and more importantly, full width intercooler.

Inter-cooler? do or did they run diesel D1s in Saudi I would expect them to be petrol.
I believe the correct term for this part Saudi Police Spec Grill.
The story of their development is that as the Saudi police like to keep the AC on in their disco while stationary parked up and hence the petrol engine was overheating, so this style of grill was fitted along with increased number of fan blades.
I'm sure most V8 D1 owners know that story.

That was my own viewpoint and reason to purchase. I never thought about whether it was fitted to Tdi or V8s in Saudi.
You learn something every day.
