Hi,

The Disco's started making some odd groaning noises when maneuvering in the Tesco's car park at low speed from lock to lock. Seems worse when the old girls warm.

Is this a common fault ? Whats the most likely culprit

Thanks

Does a bit, but the level looks to be over the min fill.
Though I guess that would explain worse when hot.

The old 90 takes Dexron ATF, but the disco manual mentions something else.

Are they the same thing ?

Thanks

My 300tdi has a similar sound but only when turning left at very low speed ie in car park. Fluid levels are fine. I've looked to see if anything is rubbing but found nothing. I suppose it could be inside the steering box. I'm told it's normal and nothing to worry about.

My 300tdi also does it on left lock, sounds like it mite be rubbing on summat, but had a look underneath and can't see what it's rubbing on.
I also heard that it was normal.

Could this be an early warning system designed by LR for pedestrians to get out of the way just as you mount the pavement

Yeah that is very possible, now uve got me thinking i think i'll put one of those 'this vehicle is reversing' sounds on, that they have on trucks. for when i'm doing a three point turn down a tight road and have to use my imagination and create more road whether it be pavement, grass verge etc... :D
