I got a problem with my sls the airbags have got air in them still but it won't lift to normal ride height I removed sls sensor s and moved them by hand andstill no lift garage told me it the ecu for sls and abs anymore help will b greatfull . If so do I have to match ecu codes up if I need to buy 1

Where are you located, someone close may be able to assist you
Was the garage a land rover specialist
Did they attempt to read the fault codes and if so what did they use.
Does the suspension lift with the ORM switch on the dash
Does the compressor work
ECU would be my last resort
 
I am from swinton Rotherham area. Wasnt a land rover specialist but he's done loads in past . No engine lights on dash. No suspension wait do anything .I got power down to pump but don't no wat else to try
 
hi i have a discovery 2 v8 and have just found a broken pipe on the air tubing harnes the suspension on the drivers side kept going down when going over bumps does any on know if these are easy to change yourself

hi guys, I have disco 11 which I changed the air bags 2 and 3 yrs ago and everythings been fine since. but it went down the other day and the compressor cant keep up to keep it inflated now. when I park up it will raise up and even go o the high level. but as soon as I drive it goes down and with the air bags being 2 and 3 yr old I don't think its them at fault. I can't hear aleak so far but I need to do the fairy liquid test. anyone got any other ideas as to what to consider before i fork out loads of money atmy local stratstone dealer who has tried to rip me off once before over a fuel pipe recall..

get springs from paddocks and find some one with a namcom to switch air off, i have done it as a temp measure to get me over xmas but have changed my mind staying on springs.

From what you describe, it can only be an air leak from somewhere in the system. No need to spend any money at all with Stratstone, as you've already got the right idea for finding where the air is coming from for free (that's all most mechanics will do to find the leak too).
 
I have an issue with my air suspension which keeps deflating but very temperamentally. It has been sprayed with leak detector sprays etc. and no sign of a leak. It doesn't always go down, it is very odd. My wife was cleaning her own car the other day, the land rover gave a gentle hiss and deflated. I had the air bags changed about 2 years ago by a land rover specialist so I think they should be ok. My current mechanic is almost certain its not the bags because it seems to suddenly go down quite quickly. It always re-inflates fine on starting p the engine. Faulty valves maybe? Any thoughts?

Your air bags have become porous
 
Hi I think you should check your valves as they do let some air out from time to time but to let 1 side down that would be a place to check there all working right.
 
Last Thursday, I bounced back from Town @25mph.
About 18 months ago my rear suspension was dropping to the bump stop, it went back to the vendor and they allegedly replaced the NSR suspension airbag, the car stopped dropping (both sides). Recently this has started again, but as before it always rose to the correct ride height when started. Until last Thursday, when it went down and refused come up again.
I've just been out to investigate, I started the car up to check the compressor, which was running, then stopped when normal ride height was achieved. I pressed the button to raise the back for off road driving and it went up further, as it should. I then switched the engine off, and went to listen for air escaping, I could hear nothing. I then bounced on the rear bumper and it started to go down again. When it got to the bump stop / axle I restarted the engine and it went back up again. I was checking the compressor, it had stopped, it was quite warm - perhaps expected, then it started pumping again, there was an almighty explosion and the back of the car was on the floor again. The NSR bag appears to have had it!

Obviously new air bags, clips and a bump stop are required. But I think the explosion was the symptom, what is likely to be the cause? Should the compressor still try to pump the bags up? it doesn't. I would like to replace the problem items in one hit, but I'm thinking that I will need to do the bags before I can check for air leaks in hoses or joints, am I correct?

Two new air bags, two ride height sensors and other ancillary parts, two hours, and it's sorted. Now to sort the water in the roof lining, job for another day I think. :)

I must change the bags on my Discovery II TD5 (year 2000). Could you please express a preference for bags produced by Dunlop, Contitech, Land Rover and any other manufacturer that produces them. Is it worth spending the money Land Rover asks for a pair to mount on a 14-year-old car?
Given the car's age (87,000 miles), should I change the ride height sensors at the same time?

In my opinion the Dunlop bags are good, had them on for three years now and no problems.
Wouldn't change the sensors if there is nothing wrong with the ones fitted, I would however undo the bottom bolt of the sensor going to the trailing arm, give it some grease and re-fit. In my experience this is where my problems have arose, as the bolt is steel, the arm is steel but the sleeve through the sensor rubber is aluminium and they don't get on, sometimes the aluminium sleeve corroded and ruins the sensor.

I'll follow your suggestion and not substitute the sensors. Thanks for the tip about possible galvanic corrosion. Will certainly do as you advise.

This guide has been very helpful as i have just replaced my rear air bags and the compressor. I seem to have a small problem though. I can only seem to get one airbag inflated at a time. I have the feed pipe in the right hole and have tried the return pipes both ways but can only get one side or the other to inflate not both at the same time if anybody knows what i might have done wrong the advice would be much appreciated.
