I have a 95 300TDi and it started playing around the other day, it kept stalling when i came to a stop and struggled to get above 30mph, i changed the fuel and sediment filter and it ran fine until friday night when she died completly and i had to be recovered home.

I have looked at her and there appearobe loads of airi the fuel sytem (when i remove the bleed bolt it can take a min or 2 to get fuel out) when i put my foot hard to the floor she revs all over the place and when i can get her to run any distance she drops power in all gears above 2500rpm.

I am assuming my air problem is before the filter and have tightened up all the joints i can see.

My next solution was to replace the fuel line from the tank to the injectors (i was looking at useing the black nylon fuel line as it gives a good joint seal)

Can anyone help me is the black nylon pipe ok to use under the car and is it all 8mm ID pipe.

before you change anything, go along on all the fuel lines and the connectors and check for leaks, breaks or cracks..
 
Before changing anything, look at the condition of the elbows on top of the fuel sender on top of the tank. These are accessible via a hatch in the boot floor under the carpet and rubber mat.
 
Ok so I now have a clear pipe run from the lift pump to the fuel filter and there is no visible air in the fuel. I have had her running and drover her for abit, the problem I now have is that after approximately 2 miles she struggle to get above 30miles per hour in any gear. She dosnt stall anymore she just has a lack of power.

I did remove the spill pipe from the injector nearest the bulkhead and I didn't get any fuel from the injector spill but I did get fuel from the pipe still attached to the other injector is this right?

I had a similar situation once, After changing the filter and cleaning the sedimenter the rough idling was still there. After a lot of searching, swearing and hitting things I found the problem was that I had twisted the seal on top of the sedimenter when I put it back on, so it was drawing air in.

So I had cured 1 problem by cleaning it but created another with the same symptoms by refitting it incorrectly.

Worth a try.
 
remove front banjo bolt were fuel pipe reaches pump ,check banjo has a large hole and work lift pump you should get a good flow of diesel,system is best bled here too not at filter, plastic or rubber hose is ok to use
 
if you decide you need pipe.....

search ebay for Air Nylon Pneumatic Tubing Pipe 8 mm x 6 mm ... I got 30m for £12.99

8mm outside x 6mm inside is what you need. A wee heat with a hot air gun and it fits on to the fittings at the pump/filter.
 
my pipes on the sender unit in the tank rotted and caused air in fuel also bad starting then eventually snapped off all in one day .
replaced sender unit all fine and dandy again
