I filled my Disco td5 (2002) to the brim last night. Took it out today and noticed fuel was evident on the floor under the vehicle, apparently coming from somewhere on top of the tank and emerging on both sides. When I bought it a week ago, I was underneath it and no sign of fuel whatsoever on a low tank.

Is there a regular problem I should look for (not had a chance to look properly yet)

Answered your own question there mate..if you brim it, then drive it, you're gonna get some fuel sloshing about and out of the overfill pipes.

When I said brim it...........it wasn't visible in the filler neck (which is quite tall compared to my van) But, yes point taken guys. I will try a gallon less next time........unless anyone else has another view?

fuel pump unit seal may just need tightening

Would this only be evident on a full tank, due to the fuel meeting the top of the tank. It it accessed from above ("boot" area).............or just a coincidence that it has leaked now?

the breather pipe does not breath to air, it should still be checked for cracking beside hose clip or chaffing against chassis causing fuel to leak.

Thanks everyone..........just stripped the pump out. The seal was half way down the pump............the work of a monkey I suspect ............now,how to get the wheel nuts off with the broken tool:(
