jim i told you who i went with. im 18, been driving over a year and have no no claims. went through all the price comparison sites with me on dads policy and the cheapest was a 1100. then my dad said i know il try tesco. now the tesco quote is 690 fully comp, get free pressure washer, protected no claims,legal assistance and i get to build up my no claims aswell as dad. BARGAIN :D

get a disco . but who ever says there as good as a 90 is a lier !!!!!!!!!!!!!! there crap offroad compared to a 90 . cos a 90 can go off road standard . but a disco cant go neware much without a lift.
 
I want that pressure washer. Trouble is, my insurance is £360 with the AA :p , and im 19, so not worth changing.

I have seen Disco's with just a set of good tyres do things you obviously haven't then :p

I will agree that the rear overhang and lower profile tyres can cause hang ups and the shorter wheelbase of the 90 make it more maneuverable in tight fixes but as for the statement "disco cant go neware much without a lift" i strongly disagree :rolleyes:
 
get a disco Mk1; awesome space inside, 3 labs, 5 muddy spagnuls, 4 moaning beaters under neath that lot, 2 guns and a reet comfy driver with leccy seats and steaming coffee in the cup holder <grin> if it all gets a bit steamy cool em all down with a nice bit of in house air conditioning! if yer lucky you might even get a partridge and miss driving into the pear tree.
 
i rekon ya should just hold oot for a defender :) , as for the insurance thing, i tried a loads oot o one o the landy mags n ended up goin wi direct line it was cheapest 230 quid, good idea if ya get insured in your oldboys name, but i would check as some of the firms do offer named drivers to build up no claims, n that'll bring it doon for when you get your own policy
 
wats a discos axel articulation(is this th rite terminology!!?!) like compared to a defender?surely this cud be the 'which is th better offroader' debate decider?

You dont live on a direct bus route to Blackbird leys do you?Thats a bit steep, any no claims?Hows long you had yer lisence?
 
lol blackbird leys, what a rough place hahaha. i would hate to insure a car living there hahah. luckily with tesco, i get to build up my no claims even though im on dads which is handy.
 
I used to live in cowley but it was cheaper to insure a car there in the european joyriding capital than in essex!INSANE!

Nup, I live in bodicote! Am paying £677 on my nissan, with one years no claims, but I can't use that on a landie as its on the nissan. had my license a year and a half now and I'm 20. I put my estimated mileage at 4000 too. Havent looked at any quotes with the old boy yet.

yeah fairenough that was an over statement . but a lift will really unlock some potential.
 
How many miles do you intend on driving in the landy?If you do 4000 in the landy how many will you do in yer nissan?Average milage for a year is about 10000-12000.if you think your gonna do less get a lower milage quote for the landy.Adrian flux matched me no claims off me ford fester, but i didnt have to take the no claims off the fester.
