Hi all,
Noticed something today on my Disco I would like a bit of comment on before I work on it.
Had a rear wheel off today and noticed that a rear brake disc was completely rust covered on braking surface except for approx one inch of shiny metal in thr centre where the pad must be contacting. How can this small area only be working, Pads are not worn down . Surely if pistons were seized it would be all rusty and if working how is it only touching this small area. Any advice before I crawl underneath. Chas.:rolleyes:
 
Try this....
Take the pads out of the caliper and thoroughly clean the mounting surface that they are supposed to slide on - it's possible that the hydraulic is fine but theres a a build up of crud around the caliper preventing the pad from moving.
Once its clean put a little & I mean little ammount of copper grease on the sliding surfaces - use a cotton bud - And I can't stress this enough A LITTLE BIT

cotton bud its a disco you dont use cotton buds on a disco i think you got a tool box for a freelander

:D Ok - Jumbo cotton buds and apply in a forceful manner :D
Just don't slar the copper grease where it will get onto the friction material or brake rotor.

Freelanders have toolbox's? The gucci type?
 
go on jack get her one, then she can put her own ****in shelves up, while you and the boys are swigging yer fosters ;)
 
Er, um, ahh, I may be new on this forum, but why were you looking for a pink toolkit?:confused: :eek:
