Hi there im thinking of fitting a disco rear axle onto my defender as mine is a bit rotten, will it go straight on and are the ratios different? do i need to change the front diff also to match???

its a strait swap...providing you have a 90 and its a disco 1 axle

If it's a 300tdi axle then it could have a 3 bolt output shaft and a rubber doughnut that the rear prop bolts too, if this is this case then you need to pull the old flange off and buy one of these LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 REAR DIFF FLANGE KIT`92 ON on eBay (end time 18-Mar-11 15:35:32 GMT)

fit a disco 1 or rrc (later model)

have you disc brakes allready?

Have found that defender axles tend to have rotten mounts and disco axles rotten diff pans.

keeping defender axle, made h/d mounts to replace my rotten ones!
