I have a 1995 discovery 3.9 v8 auto lpg/petrol conversion which keeps on backfiring and blowing the air filter off when in gas. When i flick over to petrol there's no power there. Any ideas?

Sounds like the timing may be out or rotor arm, dizzy cap, HT leads spark-plug(s) something along those lines.

dodgy lambda sensor if the gas system uses it for feedback,MAF, dodgy leads or head gasket blown across 2 cylinders

I have been told that lpg motors are prone to backfireing but I've had two, both single point systems and they have never backfired.
Check for air leaks in induction, there is an item somewhere on this very subject, try an google it.

i have the same engine and had a backfire recently, turned out to be an air leak (hole in LPG stepper motor) in part of my LPG system after the Mass air flo sensor. take a look at some of my threads (on my page on the statistics tab) to see if they help.
