Can you reset disco 4 service lights with out going to land rover?

U may try this : disconnect the battery with the lights on and then press the horn for 5 seconds. Then reconnect the battery and the service light should be off... not 100% though

Why would you want to?

so you can carry out the exact same service that landrover would but at a fraction of the price and then reset the light just like they would. still I feel that your "full service history" wont look as good as if it were "full landrover service history" with all the service stamps and saving a few quid now may backfire when you dont quite get as much for it as you could when you go to sell it. That or your up to something dodgy:D.

Yes you can reset the service interval counter but you will need a specialist tool to do this. Check out this site, Products by Diagnostic Associates Ltd - bespoke hardware, software and support solutions This is also approved by Land Rover/Jaguar and works in less than 10s!

A LR main dealer service is a bit more involved than that of a Saturday morning DIY oil change, even on a RRC or a D1 and certainly a lot more involved with an advanced vehicle as the D3, D4 and so on.

I assume that you vehicle is just out of the three year LR warranty so still a high value vehicle, so should be serviced still by LR or an indi LR garage and keep up the stamps in the service book.

Saying that... my RRC was serviced by LR main dealer for ten years but I stoped with LR dealer servicing with my disco when it was five years old, then doing my own oil, filter and coolent changes, but I went back to a indi just two years ago to do a full service again plus a gearbox oil and filter change which is a pain to do DIY on a V8.

OIL SERVICE RESET on D4

1. Turn on the ignition without starting the engine (do not press the brake pedal)
2. Open the engine hood
3. Open the driver's door.
4. Depress the brake and accelerator pedal and hold them for 60 seconds
5. Turn off the ignition
6. Turn the ignition back on without starting the engine (do not press the brake pedal) and check that the message no longer appears
