All helpful thanks. Things seem to be pointing the way of the prop? Expensive? I assume this would readily be picked up by a decent mot garage. Vendor said he would check until sold nor put through mot

Tbh vendor sounds like a right toss to deal with, just imagine what may happen if you have a warranty issue!

Point made! Sage words indeed!
I'd look elsewhere TBH.
This particular D4 sounds like a bit of a shed.
Oh and the propshaft centre bearing normal passes the MOT because its hidden by a heat shield, which the MOT tester isn't allowed to remove in the test. They simply put a note on the certificate saying covers fitted, hiding some components.

Plenty out there for sale though, so best look for another. ;)

The 3 and the 4 both snap their cranks, they didn't really address any of the reliability issues with the D4 over the D3. The 8 speed is superb everything that can go wrong will go wrong. We have been running a D3 for a while now for the same reason, dogs and family bus you cannot beat it. Did a trip to the new forest x5 adults, dogs and roof box all in comfort.
