My Father in Law has a Discovery 4 and in the last few days when he attempts to lock it, the passenger door remains open and the mirrors don't fold into place. The other doors lock and the alarm is engaged.

I've had a Freelander Td4 for a number of years and experienced 'similar' key fob/ locking problems, which have usually been resolved by re syncing the fob by pressing lock and unlock 5(?) times each. Not sure about his though.

Any thoughts/ advice?

Thanks.

Without knowing the circuit diagrams for the D4, the only advice I can offer is that you check carefully the earth wiring to and in the door. The circuit is probably wired, I can't see Land Rover relying on any electrical connection being made through the mechanical parts like the hinges and door stops.

as above , sounds like the wiring door loom

know there was an issue on the D3 ref this , don't know if they corrected this on the D4

I know the diagrams:cool:, D4s have an electronic control module in each door for latch and mirrors operation, like this http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/174082/0/module_control_ecu_passenger_door ... the passenger's door module is fed by fuse 30P central junction box so check that to rule it out also if the wiring is OK it's possible that the control module itself to be fubar'd, you'll have to remove the door card and check connector C2272 to be well connected, also C0396

hope u don't mind me asking but is this the same for the d3s please, do they also have the ecu in the doors

got to have the pleasure of removing the back door card , speaker is intermittent

thinking of actually buying some better speakers , just got to find out what size they are in each door

oh joy, will be like the cripton factor , finding the hidden screws

thks

Thanks all, much appreciated. Sierrafery; sounds like the easiest to start with so I'll have a look at that first! Cheers.

Gaz the door card comes off very easily, had to change out my nearside rear door lock when I got mine as the lock wouldn't open. Only a couple of screws

blimey that's surprising in them coming off easy

thought it may req an aircraft engineer to get it off, lol

speakers aren't very good if i'm honest , looking at getting a new set

but on reading seeing there's cross over etc etc , confused as hell, as i don't know what's fitted in there

  1. Wind the window down about 4" (only needed if door lock is being replaced)
  2. Unclip and remove the top part of the internal door grab handle by freeing the clips underneath it with a medium sized flat blade screwdriver.
  3. lever out the round plastic cover behind the door lock handle, its held onto the door card by a plastic strip so won't drop out.
  4. Remove 7 screws from the door car,1 from behind the door lock handle, 4 from the grab handle.2 from the bottom of the door.
  5. The door card is now loose and can be pulled gently from the door. Start from the bottom.
  6. Be careful removing the door card as there is wiring and the door lock cable attached to the door card.
Simples
