My Disco4 suddenly wont start, battery is fine and ignition lights up but no crank or switches firing.
Was thinking it could be a bad live / earth somewhere but the batter is earth'd straight to the chassic - any ideas?
I can't quite see where the starter is connected to as so deep inside.

Earth straps are well known for breaking, use a jump lead from the battery negative post to a good strong point on the engine and give it a try.
Iirc the strap is tucked down driver side of the engine? though that is not to say you have to fit the replacement one in the exact same place.

@lynall I just tried this and I got a little life from the starter but not enough to crank - pretty sure that's the jumpleads being more Tesco than Let's go. Will give it a go finding the lead on the drivers side later.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Could be. Cheap leads tend to be underrated with poor connections to poor clips, meaning not much current flow.
Saw a really cheap pair twitch once because they couldn't cope 😱

yup, doubled up the jump leads and boom it started. Took out the wheel and cover and low an behold it had deteriorated so much I touched it and it disintegrated. Funnily all part suppliers like JGS4x4 etc all said they don't stock this strap and it's a direct to Land Rover part - spoke to Land Rover who told be it's a long lead time and expensive to replace.

... turns out it's just a 6inch braided cable. so erm... wrong on all counts. Made one myself, started first time.

Thanks for your helps!
