i am thinking of converting my defender td to a 300 tdi from my disco, has any one done this and know how much work is involved and what parts would need changing, etc..

i have put one in mine all that is really needed is the oil cooler pipes need to be extended about 2 inch

I used the local agri firm... they made up some super oil pipes. Look like they could be the hydraualic links for a 30 ton CAT.
£20... with olives and unions to connect to existing oil cooler pipework.

the air con guy at work made them longer about 6 months ago withsome like air con fitments or somthink dont advise tho when mine gets hot theres a teardrop of oil from the join im gonna get them redone at a hydrolic hose place and just pay the price its not worth bodging them.
