Hello folks

My Disco has sprung a leak in wot appears to be the lift pump body .. is this common .. I have replaced the feedback pipes which also had sprung a leak between injectors .. but can't see any other pipes overhead which may be dripping. The fuel consumption has been horrendous of late and there was more than normal rainbows on the drive! Any ideas please. I hope i've posted this thread in the correct area, if not my apologies... Phil:)

No .. Block is ok, it's purely diesel that's leaking from lower down and seems to be weeping out of the fuel lift pump. I've managed to navigate around the forum, which I know I should have done sooner, and found some info, which states that a few others with 300TDIs have found the lift pump to be a simple pressed steel affair which eventually comes apart with vibration. Paddocks have one for £20 which seems fair, and is a different type of construction. I think I will order one and see how it goes. The only other problem I have, I hope you don't mind me asking is that I have got a stripped thread on my sump plug. Is this common? I have put some PTFE round it till I can get a replacement or is there another trick?

You Can Buy New Sum Plugs Only A Few Pound But If The Tread Has Gone In The Sump You Might Be Looking At A New Sump To Or A Second Hand One
 
Thanks very much ... found lots of info there and saved it to favourites.. Just bought the fuel lift pump off Ebay for £23 inc delivery so I will give it a go on Monday and let you know how it is .... Phil
 
Do you have a copy of that WS manual as I saw you chatting about it on another forum .... I've tried to contact the person by sending an email, but as yet I've had no reply> thanks.... Phil

Sorry about the delay Phil,. i went to a wedding function.
Hence no reply, i shall endeavour to check to see if my services are required before i attend any other future functions:D
