I've got a 300tdi auto which siezed xmas day,
I've rebuilt the engine which starts, runs and sounds sweet.
The problem is that it has no drive, is there anything I'm likely to of missed putting the engine back in?
Or is it likely that the box is knackered, I've opened the cooler pipes and there's no pressure there.
Any help will be appreciated!!!!

Thanks

was torque converter fully fitted into box before engine was fitted to it

I bolted it to engine like a manual fly wheel, I think it all went in properly tho?
theres you problem you will have broken the lugs on oil pump drive ,t/c must be fitted to the box and it takes some aligning 2 splines and oil pump drive to align

Bollocks! New box time I take it then.
I was meant to put engine in the bolt 4 bolts up through hole in back of bell housing then?

yes ,also you need to ensure torque converter sits far enough in to bell housing to be fully engaged with oil pump and theres still about 1mm of play between it and engine drive plate so when you tighten the 4 bolts t/c is pulled up, you do that by measuring depth of t/c in bellhousing from its face to bolt securing lug and by measuring rear face of drive plate to rear face of engine, drive plate has selectable shims between it and crank boss to achieve that, though not strictly necessary if you are refitting the the same units together but is important if you swap either,
you can repair box by pulling t/c outremoving bell housing and then pump housing

oil pump is in the center

the 2 tangs in center are the ones that get broken
if you do it yourself ensure box is stood on its rear end ie bell housing up before stripping, that way its an easy fix and clutches wont fall out

Looking at the Ashcroft site it's the zf pump gears,
£75 new
Is that all I need ?
Looks like it press's into the housing.

youd need to look to make sure thats all you need first but quite likely, no press, to remove pump from housing slacken the 7/16th headed bolts leave a bit of thread in and tap heads of bolts
youd need gasket rtc4320 too

Will pull the box out tomorrow and have a good look then, hopefully it's just me that's cocked up and nothing to serious.
Bloody land rovers !

Thanks a lot for your help!!!
