Hi there, it's normal etiquette on this and other car forums to go to the 'Introduce yourself' section before asking for help.

The idea being that we are a bunch of like-minded Landy fans who are, generally speaking, polite with each other.

Have I done something wrong ? I only asked a question ? Not sure what the introduce myself , I thought the forum was to gather and share information .

Hi Hoddy, just calm down a bit, you've done nothing wrong it's just the normal forum etiquette to introduce your that's all. After all, you are asking for help aren't you?

Anyway, just to give you a flavour of D3 I would say it's light years ahead of DI & DII. It's a much more sophisticated and modern feeling vehicle.

Re reliability, it's generally a good and rust-free vehicle but they do have issues.

1. EGR valves - the TDv6 engine has two and they do need looking after or they'll miss-behave;

2. Beautiful 6 speed auto box - when they were first launched the 'box was 'sealed for life' as in no maintenance/oil changes necessary - now they talk much more of oil changes every 60-70,000mls. They need special ZF oil and it's expensive !!

3. Front suspension bushes wear quickly and alter tracking leading to tyre wear;

4. Cam belt set needs changing at 100,000mls.

5. Do NOT let the handbrake pads wear low or you'll be in a mountain of trouble.

You might not be getting much response due to peeps Christmas celebrations already started.

D3 is a VERY nice vehicle.

Don't worry Hoddy - you got off lightly, must be Christmas. The peeps on here sometimes a bit rough, but you won't find a more helpful group in any forum, I suspect.:welcome2::welcome2:

Also hoddy..not sure if you've read all the small print of the forum but its considered good manners to post up a naked photo of yourself for the ladies of the forum to enjoy. No need to be embarrassed, everyone on here has done it....honest :D

You little tinker...........................................:D:D

I have heard that a 56 or 07 has proved to be the most reliable. The 2004 niggles
had been ironed out and they hadn't lost interested in favour of the Disco 4 by then.

The 2007 era has problems with the oil pump case cracking and throwing the timing belt idler and trashing the engine. Have a look at the disco 3 forum.

I had a 55 plate range rover sport for abit and loved it. Basically the same car as a D3. Only issues I had were air suspension faults that were rectified by fitting a new drier to the compressor (about 60 quid DIY).

Fuel economy over other similar cars isn't great, I was getting about 25mpg average and 30mpg on a run.

Hi hoddy,

Although this is a bit of a rufty tufty site some member do get a little pedantic if you do not introduce yourself, always thought this "introduction" stuff completely daft imo however they are "sensitive" and they may not speak to you if you do not the follow rules !! as you can see I have never done "rules" :D
