Have I done something wrong ? I only asked a question ? Not sure what the introduce myself , I thought the forum was to gather and share information .
Hi Hoddy, just calm down a bit, you've done nothing wrong it's just the normal forum etiquette to introduce your that's all. After all, you are asking for help aren't you?
Anyway, just to give you a flavour of D3 I would say it's light years ahead of DI & DII. It's a much more sophisticated and modern feeling vehicle.
Re reliability, it's generally a good and rust-free vehicle but they do have issues.
1. EGR valves - the TDv6 engine has two and they do need looking after or they'll miss-behave;
2. Beautiful 6 speed auto box - when they were first launched the 'box was 'sealed for life' as in no maintenance/oil changes necessary - now they talk much more of oil changes every 60-70,000mls. They need special ZF oil and it's expensive !!
3. Front suspension bushes wear quickly and alter tracking leading to tyre wear;
4. Cam belt set needs changing at 100,000mls.
5. Do NOT let the handbrake pads wear low or you'll be in a mountain of trouble.
You might not be getting much response due to peeps Christmas celebrations already started.
D3 is a VERY nice vehicle.
Dave
