so, I need a bigger vehicle to tow a trailer and was going to go for a Navara or pathfinder but then thought what about disco 3......

Insurance is ok at £550 as my no claims are used on my other car but how much is road tax? I'm assuming high at around £530?

What are real world mpg for these?

What should I look for when viewing?

I don't want to spend more than 8k, 6 to 7k ideally so seems to be a 2006/2008

The real big question is what about reliability? I know every manufacturer has the odd common fault but overall, what do you think?

mpg wise u are looking around 22mpg around town 30 ish on a run , in the winter it will drop as below 5c the fuel burner will kick in and can drop mpg to around 15mpg

please make sure u check them over fully, don't ever impulse buy

Dont google navara engine problems or navara chassis snapping!

D3 March 2006 onwards is the 500 pound road tax, early (2004/6) high spec SE/HSE would be the way I would go, cheaper tax and hopefully all the major repairs done.
Like all older cars there will be issues, sadly with any land rover they can be a little to often, not P38 territory though!
Might pay to look down london/south way as they will most likely have had an easier life, ie used for school runs and no towing
Detachable towbar can be an issue, google it.
