Disco 1 200tdt I’m having trouble with the gear change, when I start first thing in the morning oil cool in the box gear change is normal, give it about 10 miles oil warms up gear change begins to get more and more difficult to select, I have changed the oil for the correct grade recommended by land rover twice over the last 18 months, but that made little or no difference so do I go for a thicker oil.

no what oil did you use ? mtf94 can help, you can also remove consol and check lower stick bush and ball in plastic bush on selector yoke

thanks for your reply I appreciate it, oil is the correct mtf94, the tight shift only comes into play once the gearbox has warmed up, I wouldn’t have thought the stick would be at fault, but worth a look stranger things have happened

there is only a few things cause it oil ,lower stick bushes etc or rear mainshaft bearing, interlock and selector wear

In a TDi 200 it has the LT77 gearbox, so the recommended oil for that is ATF Dexron IID.

Try some molyslip in there.. Dunno if it would help lt77, but it helped my girlfriends focus with gear select issues..
