My son has a Ninety with a Disco 200tdi conversion and we need to get an engine oil cooler pipes but I am a bit unsure of the part numbers.
It's the cone shape pipe at the rad end type, bit like an oversized brake pipe, no o-rings or sealing washer. Attaches to an adapter coming out of the rad.

NTC4338
ESR1258 has the o-ring type ends which I presume you can get screw in adapters for the rad end but what about the other end?
Anyone know?

Unfortunately it's not as simple as that as the other end would also need some sort of adaptor to accept the later pipe.

Don’t think there is an adapter on the engine end. I gave my last adapters to @dag019

@dag019 do you remember what pipes you used on the rebuild ?

I think it would need the oil filter housing changing.
Will have to see if anyone actually stocks the correct part.

Have you got a pipe fitted now?

Off to search the 2 adapters in radiator.
1 is a step pipe
1is a dome end pipe.

I have a disco engine in mine & pipes are standard

Yes NTC4338, I have fired of an email but don't hold out much hope its available.
Defender 200tdi pipe will be too long I think as the engine fits further forward more like a 300tdi.
Pirtek might be an option maybe.

I had some 300ends from pirtek but don’t think the could source the radiator adapters.

Off to look for some photos…

Yes it is the oil filter that dictates what style of pipe you need for the rest of it as these are not interchangeable and there are no adapters. This was the issue I had which was resolved by @hicapphil very kindly giving me the radiator adapters I needed during my fire damaged rebuild. If your current pipes are cone shaped that is what you will require as you will have the early type oil filter housing. I will go through some old invoices as I have had both the original set fitted to mine and the very expensive Steve Parker conversions so should have the part numbers for the original Land Rover ones I used.

On the rebuild with the engine which the had the later style oil filter housing requiring the o-ring style pipes I then just used the Steve Parker kit and the later radiator adapter mentioned above.

Who would have thought a pipe would be so expensive.
The later version is only about £30, original style is just over £100 if anyone actually has it.
What sort of pressure do they run at?

NTC2928 is one of the ones I had fitted to my 200tdi disco conversion which is “Oil Cooler Pipe Return 90/110 Diesel from FA389799 to FA430160” I don’t have a record of what the other one was but assume it would have been NTC2927 which is the matched pair for this.

These were then replaced with the cone end Steve Parker conversion hoses. And then when the engine was swapped to the later 200tdi after the fire again the o-ring Steve Parker hoses were used.

Not a huge amount of pressure I don’t think. From memory it’s under 1 bar at idle. Which then increases with revs.

Pipe is no longer available it seems, so it's a hydraulic repair place ot a convoluted work around with new pipes adapters and oil filter housing, what a faff.

Which pipe is no longer available?
Although horribly priced the ones I used NTC2928 seems to be available at Craddock's: LINK
and the steve parker conversion, also horribly priced, is still available: LINK

And the one you mentioned at the top NCT4338 seems to still be avaiable form SP 4x4: LINK

I believe having had a quick search the difference is NCT4338 is the discovery oil cooler pipe, and NCT2928 is the defender version but would suggest that either or both would work as evidenced by the fact you have the discovery one in yours, and I had the defender one in mine.

When mine first went I tried the local hydraulic place and they could not make me up a new one and refused to replace the rubber hose (the bit that had failed) on my existing one and use the metal fittings I had. They didn't want anything to do with pipework made from used parts, it was new or nothing, which I guess is a liability issue.

I don't think the Defender version will physically fit as I think that pipe runs along the inside of the chassis leg, engine mount will be in the way I think. Of course I could be wrong, it has been known.
The disco version goes up quite high above the chassis leg.
I will need to have a better look.
I have rang SP and the place in Ireland, they can't get it.
Pirtek won't do it using the old ends as you mentioned previously, due to warranty.

By the looks of it the Defender one may be too long, which might not matter if it was more flexible rubber than steel pipe.
I grabbed a photo to show the route of our pipes.

I have some 2nd hand ones on the way which I hope will fit, at least they have the same ends.
As far as I can tell by the photos they look to be the same shape and length.
Glencoyne suggest ESR280/ESR281 are the part numbers for the early 200tdi Defender pipes. Apparently the ends changed around 1992.

Fitted 2nd hand Defender item which was approx 15cm too long. Being mostly rubber there is enough flex to change the route a little so all good.
Doesn't leak so that's a bonus.
