When I took mine out to fix another problem, the motor had an amazing amount of water in it!
I didn't strip it or anything as it was working ok, but did just spray it with Water Displacement stuff then ran the motor off the door to make sure it was working OK.
I don't think it would be that easy to strip but I didn't look that closely as I had other things to do, like swop out the mechanism.
While in there it would be a good idea to tighten up the bolts holding the motor on to the mech as that in the end turned out to be what my problem was.
