And a decent breaker bar !

:D:D:D I had to put a scaff tube on mine as well for that long ass centre bolt! N/S wheel off to get access, enjoyed the whole job weirdly enough.
Prob because I had time waiting for bushes to arrive so I could clean and paint the metal bits up :)

It’s really not a bad removal job, it’s purely getting the old bushes out ! The press did not get the centre one out, had to slot the outer with a hacksaw and then tried again with a press, before cleaning up all the internal surfaces with emery and pushing the new ones in :).

I was lucky enough to get someone to do the pressing for me! Funnily enough the lad struggled with getting the new polybushes in more than getting the old out. Cuz they were so pliable I think. I did clean up and soak all the old bushes in machine oil for 3 days before he attacked em so maybe that helped

doesn't take long to replace them, i use a vice, done a few sets now, only Gen bushes, if they have lasted over 10years or more, they arn't that exspensive, i have an old set and just fit new bushes then exchange em for your old set!

Watts bush update,ok sales from ISLAND 4x4 have confirmed that they don't do "POLY" bushes and their others are Chinese, so they will refund me, ok back to square one :)

A timely thread for me. The Land Rover is clonking when I rock it from side to side.

So, clearly I need original bushes or polybushes - where's best to get them and what am I looking at cost wise?

We have a 10 tonne press at work, so it shouldn't be impossible to press the new bushes in.

Aye, spoilt for choice, its which ones :)
Sadly a quick poke round this afternoon tells me I don't need to embark on a Watts link rebushing frenzy.

Instead I have snapped a shock mount off the chassis. A quick poke around with a hammer reveals that a half chassis is in order.

Still, at least I won't have to do the Watts linkage just yet...
