i got into my td5 last night and the lights on the gear select and on the dash where flashing?
the 2 lights on the dash where M and S Warning lights
got home and turned it off then restared it seems fine today?
any ideas on this problem?

Sounds like your battery could be going a little soft.

If you start the motor and imediately reach for the gear selector and it triggers the lights, this is often a sign of a weakening main battery, that is not supplying sufficient volts to operate the autobox ECU.

Try this:

Start the engine before readying yourself for the road. Start the engine, put your seatbelt on, do your lippy, fârt and whatever else you do before driving off, then select the gear you want. This allows time for the battery to revive itself before supplying juice to operate the 'box ECU.

Say goodbye to your XYZ switch.

These are the first symptoms of a gummed up, water logged XYZ.

It sits under the drainage pipe of the air con and usually goes after 5 or 6 years.

Sorry, but it will get worse and will cost you between £120 and £300 depending on how honest your garage is. Or you can do it yourself for the cost of the part and a few hours cursing whoever designed the Disco.
