I have had my engine apart and the cam shaft out. Now it is all back together and it is not firing at all, the only good news bing it takes half a minute for the oil light to go out after cranking.
I did make one initial mistake, which was to connect the idle control valve plug into the coil. I also could not remember how the coil packs wired up but found a diagram online and as I have no nasty backfires I have a feeing the coils are not firing, or the injection is not, I suspect both to be doing nothing. The bracket that holds the crank sensor wiring to the back of the head is also not bolted up but I can't see that in itself being an issue (it's a sod to get at) the radiator is yet to go in, but I wanted to see it fire up before completing it

Checking anything on this Germanised engine is an utter night mare, I am never touching another Thor again

OK I have taken a step back and regrouped.. I have now checked for a spark, and there is one, then I tipped some neat petrol into the inlet manfold and it fired a few times, so the ignition works however it will still not run, I am also aware it is a wasted spark system so this may not say anything helpfull about the timing

I don't seem to hear anything that might be the fuel pump running, I did knock the intertia switch off the bulkhead when I took the heads off so I tried jumping the plug, this seemd to achive little more than making the idle control valve buzz. Where (assuing there is one) is the fuel pump relay so I can try jumping that to see if the pump is working or not?
