When I accelerate hard, the engine hunts and kangaroos,and seems to have no go on hills, it is an auto, having looked at other forums and you tube I am wondering if it is the waste gate valve, can anybody help on this?

Are you aware you have posted this in the Freelander section????

Can you get it on live running diagnostics?

If you want to investigate some more, may hep you in your search for the issue.

Then do a search for wastegate modulator and wastegate actuator.

Make sure the waste gate is not stuck ..give it a prompt to see how smooth it's operating

No, I thought I was on the Disco section, I have no emu light up so will diagnostics help?

Have you seen this when looking?



Having live diagnostics may show if something is not working correctly or when it is an issue ( ie Engine speed / pressure etc. )
If you can find someone who can plug it in and take it for a drive to record the info.

Yes thanks I wached that on you tube, wasn't sure whether to by-pass or fit a new valve

Personally I would fit a new vlave if it has failed, but for diagnostic purposes to prov if it is a problem I would bypass for the short term.

Can you provide more info on when the problem happens, driving style / speed / hills/ towing / load ? etc. Cold / Hot?

I think I will fit new valve, it happens when I try to accelerate to hard or use kickdown

Strange the MIL light is normally lit when you post in the wrong section. Diagnostics should give a DTC of P4071 when posting in the wrong section.
