I had a TD5 auto re-mapped by Mike and it completely transformed it from lazy fat pig to comfortable, competent all-road cruiser.

Worth every penny.

I also had my manual D2 remapped by Mike ar Dynachip, and as everyone else has already mentioned, its the best £225.00 I've spent on the car.
He comes to you so think how much hassle that alone is worth.

Is there any way to tell if a Disco 2 is re-mapped?
Changed my 1996 Disco 300Tdi in October for a 2002 Disco 2.
Appreciate more HP but this car absolutely takes off like a rocket.
Do I need something like a Nanocom or is there a physical difference somewhere?.
Please bear with me, still learning about Disco 2.

Hi Jim, the way I would look it is this, do you like the way your DII drives?

If you do, what does it matter if it's been re-mapped or not -it's the result that counts isn't it?

I'm not even sure if you had access to a Nanocom or Hawkeye, that you would be able to tell whether it was std. or not. The diagnostic machines will show how the engine is working but not if it's been re-mapped or not.

I think I'm right in saying that only Testbook (LR official diag. machine) would tell what version of software the ECM is operating with, then that would need to be compared with LR official lists of ECM updates.

If your car runs great mate, just be happy.

Hello Dave,
car runs fine. Instant start. when I got the car on startup the tickover seemed to hunt? a wee bit until engine warmed up.
Very pleased with the way it runs, very quiet when warm.
Since I changed to BP Ultimate from Shell the startup tickover is very steady. Don't use supermarket fuel unless a good deal is available and then only a half tankful.I used 2SO in the 300Tdi which helped .
So, if it ain't broke, why fix it. Will just carry on with car as it is.
Thanks for the comments

Just a quick thought Jim, if your DII still has it's EGR valve, dump it; plus cleaning out the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor helps a lot.

If you've not already done it, it's really worthwhile as otherwise it will send dodgy data to the ECM.

This sensor is found by removing the engine cover. It is installed in the inlet manifold just after the EGR valve. It has 2 x 8mm retaining bolts and should be cleaned with aerosol brake and clutch cleaner, then allowed to dry.

Cheers
Dave

Well just been remapped by Mike. Great stuff big improvement on take of like s..t of a shovel compared to before. Will advise on mpg as much as possible though atm lot's of town driving. Motorway mpg to follow. IMHO mapping is well worth it. Big thank you Mike
