Hi Guys....

Typical - parents go on holiday and I borrow the old mans disco after running them to the airport.

I have a buzzing noise coming from somewhere near the instrument cluster of the upper part of the fusebox. Sounds like a small cooling fan... only begins in key position 2 and whilst engine running.

Not the HVAC motor which is also a bit noisey.

Any ideas?? - its driving me mad.

Car has covered 750 miles with me behind the wheel, so not affecting reliability etc.

At the moment I just keep the radio switched on :)

Any solutions would be great

Thanks

Steve.

there is a little cooling fan there behind the slots in the dash. Mines a bit noisy too. dont know what it cools? but if you drop the knee cover open and reach in under neath you'll feel it buzzing

could also be a relay in the fuse board.Drop the knee board and follow the sound, the relays look like little boxs, you can sometimes feel them buzzing if theres a problem.

I've got the same on my car. It is the fan which draws cabin air over a sensor to regulate the air con / heater temp in the car. I keep meaning to take it out and clean all the dust off it.....have you ever looked at a washing m/c motor...with all the cleaning the missus does it's a wonder where all the dust comes from!!

Thanks for the info - a spray of GT85 has removed some dust and made it quieter. If it reappears I will remove and clean properly.
