You are quite right, it did have a number on it. Wrong one supplied. Returned, refund and now going to order from LR parts specialist. Lesson learnt

Get a Genuine one, i tried with a Daco, continental etc, they were all ok, then after a few weeks all started to squeak, got new tensioner, no different!!, got new idler, no different!!! got Genuine belt! perfect!!!!! did my fooking head in ! everytime you switched the engine off a big squeak!

Tried putting old belt back on and it was so tight. Wondered if it was in fact wrong belt. Phoned the auto parts where I bought replacement belt from. Asked them to check the system as to what size it should be. Came back that original belt was correct size. Why couldn't they have done that in the first place? Continued with belt, used some wd40 and it was on. Started engine, no problem.
When I switched engine off, noticed that there was a noise, almost like freewheeling (bearing of some description?), which slowed down and stopped. I have heard this before. Any ideas?

That at might be the rotary oil filter or search youtube for crankshaft pulley.
HTH,
Griff
Have now replaced auxillary belt and noise still there. Following Griffs suggestion, suddenly remembered noise started after changing oil and filters. Bolt on rotary oil filter was not biting. Bought a longer bolt and this tightened up no problem. If it is rotary oil filter, what would the issue be?

? rotary filter sits in a housing a spins quite fast ,the idea been very fine particles that the canister filter wont filter out, stick to its sides ,you can hear some slowing down after engine shut down

Thanks, James That makes sense. Still have issue with a noise that increases with engine speed. It sounds like something rubbing but nothing is. I do wonder if it is the water pump.
