Hi, this is my first post and concerns the front passenger door on my 1999 Disco 2 which I am unable to open and would appreciate some advice on.
Although there are similar posts on this site none seem to answer the question of how to get a locked door open.
The remote opens all the other doors as does the key and the central locking switch. The button on the passenger door goes up and down but the handles won't open the door. I've tried all combinations of using the remote and pulling the handles but to no avail. I've also removed the window's interior weather strip but can't see anything useful through the small gap.
So how to get the door open (and repaired)?
Any helpful suggestions would be gratefully received.

Hi pstd5 you might want to go say hi in (introduce yourself ) You won't get many replies until you do . Was the door lock getting lazy before it stopped . Sounds like the lock activator has packed up . Have you tried the dash button while pulling the internal door handle .and welcome

Sometimes you just gotta rip that panel off.

Was once working on a RRS and had to go at the mechanism from the inside with a hammer and chisel, it was deadlocked

Thanks a lot for your reply. Have now tried the dash button with internal and external handles but no, it still won't budge :(
And yes, have now 'introduced myself'.

Thanks. I'll save that for my final option although I don't know of any other ones yet!

image.jpg here's the parts inside . But I think mr noisy might be right think your going to have to get the door panel off and see what you can do

Might be worth taking drivers door card off 1st so you can 1 look at where all card pop studs are to help you get other off with less damage and 2 have a look at the lock and how it be opened or fixed if something's come off

Thanks to those who replied to this post but I finally bit the (expensive) bullet and took it to a local garage which specializes in LRs who replaced the lock and carried out some other work on it. They said that this was a common problem with Disco locks and that they often have to remove the seat but I'm not sure if they had to resort to that on this occasion.
I had managed to detach most of the door card, even drilling through the seat base to access two screws (not good for the cosmetic appeal of the vehicle but a couple of grommets will fill the holes) leaving just the front end still attached. This provided a view of the lock but not very good access and I still couldn't see how to adjust or fix anything.
It would be interesting to hear from anyone else who manages to sort out this problem.
