Ok, off course that everything is more complicated than it appears cos the timed relay is conceived to work with switched feed and the system is with switched earth so you'll have to insert an extra normal relay beside the timed one(left side in the diagram), not a killer though, so here's the plan: where it appears that "fusebox +12" get it from that ignition live from front of the fusebox (pointed with red)

1. for HRW +mirrors, the wires from C0229 cut and connected as in the diagram, the side which goes to 0067 toward the BCU to be left out from the circuit, at C0582 also cut as the fusebox to be out, the timed relay takes over the whole thing

I'll try to figure out something for the HFS too cos there is even more complicated but do this first to see if it works or not

hi mate
couple questions before i start

pi2 on timer relay does that go to earth ???

the normal relay your talking about will i be able to use just a black or yellow 1 from the

fuse box in the engine bay as i got a fuse box spare with them ????

What ever i'm trying i can't find a simpler solution for the HFS other that using 2 additional relays... here's the scheme, at C0661 - 12 again cut the wire which goes into the BCU and connect the other side to the relay...with these setups both front and rear screens(+mirrors) will start when you push the switch and stop after the timer elapsed, i shouldhave been there myself to make measurements and maybe then i could have fixed the system by finding that hidden fault but it's very hard to troubleshoot from this distance

ok right here we go the first set of instuctions were done and i have a light comming on the switch so i presume the rear heated window and mirrors will work now fingers crossed

well done, as long as the switch has light the heater elements should get feed too cos it's the same circuit

ok mate
i just went down and got the other relays done
HAPPY DAYS MATE GOD i have both lights on both switches now working and after around 12 miniuts the lights went out
is there anyway to check what wire feeds the elements to check to see if that powers up and switches off ?/
regards mike

your some man like first time with your instuctions bang on the money
HAVE TO SAY BIG THANKS AGAIN MATE

Welcome mate, you can simply touch the mirrors and the screens after about 5 minutes and you'll feel if they are warm, if you want measurement you can open the bonnet and you'll see the HFS plugs both sides(C0246, 0247), you must also have feed on fuses F7 and F8 engine bay, for the HRW and mirrors the circuit is directly connected to the timed relay's output on that brown/purple wire which you cut near C0582-4, which goes to C0381 rear screen and the mirrors C0319-2 , you must get voltage across 1 - 2 there

cheers i will tidy wires and motor tommorow then check as you say touching the screens etc
its in the workshop or it would have been easier to leave out side till morning as we are meant to get a cold snap
cheers again i will let you know as soon as i do
kind regards
mike

hi mate
done a quick ckeck this morning heate rear working
never felt any heat on front any side but gat power at plugs on both sides
forgot to check mirrors
but will go down again and check all again

alright mate hope alls well
ie the windscreens ect
back window works well no problems

front screen and mirrors ?
is there anyway i can check other bits i believe all is right in your instuctions
i checked the plugs under bonnet for front screen when on it shows power at plugs and when timer relay goes off the power goes off too these plugs
so could it just be the elements fu%%%%5%cked
regards
mike

here is another one you can give some thought let me know if possible my friend

i have just bid on 2 58 plate discoverys the engines v6 diesels broken
do you think i could transplant a 300tdi into it i know i can but

what wireing issues would there be ???? could it be done ???
regards
mike

You're better off starting a new fred for that question :)

Re-read your post and edit it cos it's confusing... i dont understant what's working and what not except the back window..though if you have voltage in those plugs under the bonnet the heater elemets are gone so at the mirrors if you have voltage on the spade connectors which means the circuit is OK

that's a completely different thing as the D3 has all the management via CAN-Bus and that's not addaptable to a 300tdi as to have indications on board also missing the original engine all the systems will be mixed up via CAN and nothing will work(ABS, TC, EAS, TRS, nothing) .... at least IMO that's a too complicated thing and you'll end up with a "dead" D3 body carried by a 300tdi engine
