Hi. Hope someone can help. I have a disco 2 1999 td5. The brakes are are the issue. If u press the brake gently then the seem ok, if you press them hard they dont really do anything. I have replaced the front calipers as the seals had split and they seemed to be pretty seized but still no joy. Any ideas? Thanks

Most likely a brake servo fault.

Had a look at the the car this afternoon and the servo seems to be working. Think I might have found the problem. The pipe that runs from the alternator to the servo has 2 little pipes coming of it . One of the pipes goes to the egr which I blanked, and I think the other one is for the brakes. You can feel it sucking on your finger. That one wasnt connected.

Thanks for telling us. Always good to know we were in the right ballpark.

Yeah if you have an EGR blank on a td5 you need to blank those EGR lines as they affect brake pressure. A small screw in each tipped in a bit of epoxy will do the trick
