Cheers for the reply, are the mods to the grille or the vehicle and do you know how extensive they are

Ok think I'll see if I can pick one up to have a look what's involved, I'd like to put the mesh conversion on mine but I can't seam to find a mesh grille for the facelift D2

That mesh thing is the worst ideea cooling wise ... IMO those who sell it dont care about your engine or those who fitted it didnt watch the live coolant temp when it's warm outside to see the difference. It's good for winter but summer time when it's realy hot oustide it has bad effect for cooling which is visible only with additional temp gauge cos the factory gauge stays at the middle up to 120*C which means you can drive it at 115 for long without even knowing it and that's not healthy for the engine

The saffari grills are mesh grills in order to provide more cooling. I did my own, having first calculated the flow area standard and with the mesh. You will need to put in a strong mesh, not some fancy lightweight stuff as a stone through your rads is not good.

But did you watch live engine temp in the summer? calculating flow area is not so relevant IMO as the air's path after the grille is different according to the modell. A friend of mine bought a mesh grill advertised as an improvement(i dont remember from which manufacturer) which was made from a similar "tight" mesh like yours and the ECT was always above 105*C at around 30*C ambient temp it even overheated once when it was above 40*C outside while with the normal grille it never exceeded 95... that was after it's been supervised every day for a week hence my reply. That's why all the "universal" mesh sheets have 12x6 mm "holes" which i'm sure it would not look so nice like your's on it's own

why didnt they fit such tight mesh on THESE then?

Your advice is always good Fery, but this has been there for 15years, I live in Wales, Summer temp 20-25 if we are lucky anything above is considered a heatwave and does not happen very often.

Good luck then cos your grille looks very nice but for warmer areas i'm sure it could be a risk being so restrictive... though it would be good for you(and that's valid for all D2 owners) to fit an additional ECT gauge to see the real coolant temp cos as i said the factory gauge is a bad joke.... when it goes to red it's usually too late.

I like your bumper. Which one is that? Mine is original and TIMEX.

Bought it caus, I like the rounded well made look, rather than the angular, welded corner made in a shed look. Dont remember the name, But do know they went out of busines.

Can somebody show me such "safari grille" other than for snorkels? .... i wanted to see what kind of mesh they have which can improve cooling but couldn't find any link with a front grille named "safari"

I quite like this one, apparently the guy didn't like the price to buy one so did this himself and to be fair I thing it looks spot on

I’ve checked and it’s actually a Sahara grille, as per the link… (rival forum but I’m sure that’s not a problem!)

And looking at the link and others online, it is available for a disco 2, albeit pre-facelift models.
