There was always a light there from day 1, it just never lit on the pos II key position.

However if you have a DII '98 to 2001 then the internals for diff-lock are in the trans box and only need a linking cable to operate them - in which case the dashboard light does come on; top LH corner IIRC.

That's not what I've found James. I've installed 3 diff lock linkages and in each case, the dashboard light illuminated. The vehicles in question were 1999 and 2 x 2000

I,ve not fitted a linkage kit a ANY D2 yet where the light hasnt come on as soon as the spiggot was turned, and I,ve done absolutely loads now.
