Hi all,
Got a bit of a problem, needed a new steering shaft for my 97 disco 300. Got one from paddock, a britpart QME500040. Took the old shaft off today but but new shaft won't go over the splines! Anyone had this trouble before? They don't even come close to fitting let alone being a bit tight! Any ideas?

see if'n you cant get one from a breakers.

Try rotating the shaft as you locate over the splines. IIRC, the steering shaft will only fit after it has been rotated into a certain position.

Tried that, it won't even start to locate. I've held it up against the spline on the old one and it is quite a bit ( around 2mm) smaller! Thanks for the suggestion though

Did you order the part using your VIN? It may be that you have ordered the wrong part, and that maybe you should have ordered part no. NTC8478.

Yeah, my vin starts VA. the shaft was for LA and on. The only thing I can think of is they have sent the wrong one, will have to wait until Monday now for them to open!
