Any one got any ideas what can be the problem with the srs light being on all the time. I know its been a problem with alot of people.but i could do with it sorting. Any one know where i could purchase two crash sensors for the front.
 
I'm not aware of crash sensors only an under bonnet inertia switch which is mounted on the bulkhead.

It could be the ribbon in the steering wheel?

To be perfectly honest my most honest recommendation is to get it checked over by a garage as it is a dangerous bit of kit when not treated with respect.
 
From RAVE for the D1:-

"Two different SRS systems are fitted to Discovery 1.
The Distributed SRS which has two crash sensors located in the engine compartment on the chassis longitudinals and the Single Point Sensing (SPS) SRS which has a single crash sensor located in the Airbag diagnostic control unit.
The change from distributed SRS to SPS SRS occurred at VINs 198222 and 528977."

There is a diagnostic socket, so it would probably be worth getting that checked to see what codes have been logged.
As @dieseldog69 has already said, the SRS can be dangerous if not treated properly.

To find out for your self, the part number for the “Switch-crash sensor air bag” is AMR2705.
Google and you’ll find suppliers for a new item, you will need two so if brand new, it’s expensive, but ebay also has a few for sale or of course there’s a LR disco 1 breaker. The RR Classic also had the identical item fitted, when fitted with SRS that is.

The sensor is coloured Red so easy to spot if your vehicle is fitted with that S R S.

Was that from the main dealer? Did they try European central stores in Metz?

But I must admit, you are looking for parts that are already a bare minimum 20yrs old!!!

Have you got a part number for them?

Is it possible to cross reference them from another Land Rover as it was a common thing for Land Rover to use same parts across multiple vehicles in that era.
 
Yes it was from main dealer.no joy.the part no ar amr 2705.thats what i was hoping to hear some one useing another sensor.
 
Any two wire inertia switch from any vehicle can do the same job all you have to do is to get hold of one from a brakeyard with connector attached and swap the D1's connector with that connector and if the switch is faulty get a new one instead for that modell, for example this seems the cheapest https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Inertia-Switch-for-Range-Rover-P38-Genuine-WQT100030L-/350335426520 all you need is the connector, but you can use from freelander or D2 too

Thanks for info.but my sensors have three wires each.how would this work.
 
The OP seems to be convinced that his problems lie in one or both of the crash sensors. I have to ask whether he has had the SRS fault codes read, or whether he's starting at the front end and working back to the light changing everything as he goes?
From what I know of the SRS system, the usual cause of the SRS light tends to be in the rotary coupler connections to the driver's steering wheel airbag. But only by reading the fault codes will he, and we know.
