Another thing to maybe look at is the alternator and battery. Both need to be in good order. Easy to check with a volt meter.
Another check is to drive along then turn on heater fan on max, heated rear screen, main beam and any other large electrical load. If you get a misfire then alternator or battery or both are in need of attention. If alternator, send it to a local auto electrician for a refurb - new voltage regulator, brushes, slip rings and maybe bearings. A battery is a battery I suppose. Opinions vary but I have been running mine on a Numax for must be nearly 10 years and can't knock it, 1000CCA and can handle deep discharge and not as expensive as many brands so what's not to like?
