Guys, I am new to Landyzone.... So HI! I bought a Series 1 3.5L V8 Disco with an LPG Conversion a few months ago and have a few teething problems. My other half uses it as her daily transprt and loves it. i have a company car so feel slightly guilty that mine works perfectly!!

The 1st is most important. The car drives like a dream on Petrol but when switched to LP will run like it has the flu! From my limited knowledge on this old school system and Twin carb engines in general, i decided that it must be a ful flow issue. I replaced the diaphram unit at Xmas an this improved things slightly. BUT now it runs irratically. On idle it is okay for a while, runs at it best between 70 & 75 but when you arive at a round about or junction it just dies!!!

There is also a water boiling noise which i can hear from the inside. it sounds like he heater matrix area. can this be related!!

the temp gauge on the dash doesn't move too much and the heater is rubbish!!

I also have a flickering oil light at lower revs or on idle after a journey. I have seen a thread on this site before relating to this.

Are these issues usual. I want to sort these things out ASAP...Please Help

Chris, you appear to have a number of different problems which may be related. You'll find plenty of help here to deal with your cooling and heater issues.
Don't take this for granted but it's just possible that the LPG has (if it wasn't installed correctly or set up right) caused the problems. A common fault is backfiring which can do loads of damage and if the mixture was too lean you might have overheating damage. (burnt valves, blown head gasket, head cracked etc)
I've never run LPG on twin carbs but had plenty of experience on other engines. As you said, cutting out after pulling up at roundabouts is common and downright dangerous.
If you take my advice start by diconnecting the LPG and forget about it for the time being. You must get your engine sorted so that you know its working perfect and you can trust it. It's only then that a LPG system will be of any benefit. Furthermore, when your basic engine is running well it makes it easier to determine if it's the LPG system that's causing the problems.

The LPG system on your vehicle may not be a good one so take it to a couple of Autogas service centres to get a better idea. There may be some improvements or upgrades to deal with the cutting out. If your determined to keep the LPG make certain it's got all the fail safe devices fitted and properly set up. Most mechanics can get a LPG system to work but don't have the proper test equipment or experience to ensure it works well.

When they go they go extremely well.
