My door lock solenoids have played up since I got the car a few months ago.

The two right hand doors and the back door all unlock successfully when I unlock the drivers door with the key. But the two left hand side doors remain locked, although the door lock buttons seem to pop up. I have to open the passenger side door with the key and the passenger rear door by hand.

When I lock the doors (by turning the drivers side key lock) all 5 doors lock successfully.

So the solenoids all work when locking, but only half of them work properly when unlocking.

Is this something that I can fix by adjusting the problem door locks, or do I need to replace the solenoids? Or.....?

Any suggestions?

Nothing to do with the solenoids/actuators or whatever they're called. There's a little spring in the door lock mechanism that wears out apparently it's a pain in the arse to replace. Do a search on ebay for disco door lock springs.

One of the symptions of a failed lock spring is the door pin (button) pops up when unlocking but then drops down half way, so if you have that then as hughesy above. I understand they come with instructions.

Yes, they pop up then drop down just a little, effectively re-locking. Thanks for your help - will go look for some springs now.

Sorry to jump in on this thread but would it also be the springs on my door locks as I can open the motor with the key fob but have to lock it with the key as when I lock with the key fob all the buttons go down but not the drivers door ( it trys to go down but wont ) and so it all opens again but locking with the key it all locks.

The master actuator in the drivers may require a slight adjustment on its mountings, take the door card off and you will see the actuator and the sliding rod, undo the mounting screws and move it only a milimeter or so while locking/unlocking with the fob.
Other than that you will still need to remove the card and have look, may be a simple spray of wd40 is all thats required.

OK thanks will give it a go.

hilly1 isn't the only one with that issue, my drivers door sometime does, sometimes doesn't - I've noticed that if I move away from the car and press the fob it'll work, but not if I'm close!!!
thanks for the info, will try that in a weeks time.

Sorry to jump on here but would this be the problem if all doors relock once unlocked with the fob?

It does it two or three times every time before it unlocks properly?

As ozlandy's post above, so if the spring has gone in the drivers door lock (master) ie. when unlocking the door button drops back down, the door will re-lock it's self and the other doors (slaves) will follow.
If not that then the master actuator could be "bouncing" ie. the operation of the servo not working either way fully. So the door card will have to come off and if adjustment doesn't work then a new actuator will be required.

Hi,
Sorry to butt in, only just joined!
Have similar issue with rear door. All doors open but when I lock the rear wont lock but will with the key.

I have seen an ad for he door springs, www.disco-compatable-parts.co.uk
they do a complete set for about a tenner ( well it's £10 for my 2dr disco!) not tried them but thought its worth a punt if they can't be ajusted over the weekend by the old hammer & WD-40!
