I presume they're basing it on a brand new vehicle, perfect tyre pressures, smooth test oval on flatish ground and perfect weather

That's what I do on my 50 mile drive to work. Switch the radio on, brain off and follow the juggernauts. It's so much more relaxing than getting stuck behind them when they over take each other, plus your saving money. Since I've had the disco I've been driving much slower than I used to and its surprising how little time it adds to your journey.

bless her rubber boot's my disco 300tdi edc auto, gives me a avarage of 27-35 mpg's,
i put in 20lt on sunday morning for airport run. milton keynes to heathrow and have been useing it around town for meny short trips, and thats with no mods just standard,

am i thinking right by a de-cat and a de-egr will improve the mpg's?

i used to work for a company near cambridge, so used to do somerset to cambridge quite often... back when mark 2 escort vans were the fastest thing on the roads... twas about 200 miles, driving like a pillock was about a 15 minutes quicker than taking it legal and sensible ,
i reckon you save more time by picking yer lanes in traffic than you do by getting silly on the open road.

Well did 620 miles mainly on the motorway and A roads with a couple of hours of heavy traffic this weekend 31mpg, then did 144 miles small lanes and off road in Yorkshire 20mpg.

I've just done a trip to Leeds and back 300 mile round trip and I used just under a quater of a tank each way, I thought that was quite good really. I sat between 50/60 mph due to a lot of police average 50mph checks, I have just de cat new injector seals cleaned injectors new leak off pipes new lift pump and diesel filter and I also have 235 85 tyres so they will help on the motorway once upto speed

I keep track of my MPG too: Mileage - Land Rover Discovery ES TDi, 1997, 2495cc

I have a '97 300Tdi Disco 1, auto gearbox, mud tyres, 2" lift, snorkel, spotlights, heavy bumpers, EGR removal & de-cat. Here's my average:

I've been doing more short journeys this winter, which probably explains the MPG lowering gradually... Much more detail on my actual web page!!
