Hi there!

Quick question, i have a set of defender front disc brakes laying around, could they be retrofitted to a salisbury axle?

Thanks in advance!

Yes but you need a lot more parts to be able to convert. Stub axles, hubs, mounting brackets etc. I converted my Salisbury to disc brakes using a guide form another forum here: link. This one also uses a similar conversion (link).
It is a fairly straight forward nut and bolt conversion once you have gathered all the parts. and once completed means that all four corners use the same brake discs and wheel bearings, and everything is still standard off the shelf land rover parts many of which can be purchased second hand.

You can fit discs to a drum braked Salisbury but I'm fairly sure you need the correct 110 rear discs and calipers. You need something else too but for the life of me I can't remember what!, Think it's a spacer of sorts for the calipers.
I was going to convert mine many years ago using parts but then came across a complete axle for a good price so I got that instead.
