Hoho How Silly
Have always found the dipstick on the TD4 difficult to remove. Technique was to go gorilla on it and invariably lose the tug of war contest. However, after deploying my 'slide rule' and the distant memory of Pythagoras I have managed to 'crack the code' and want to share it with you.
Firstly, having released the bonnet catch approach the front of the car purposely(you need to be ready for a 'battle' and be prepared to die or kill in the process) lift bonnet and secure with 'bonnet strut thingy'.. next locate offending Dipstick(yellow in my case). Firmly grasp yellow portion. Now 'gird thy loins' and gently twist the yellow portion(left or right it doesn't matter) and at the same time pull gently on the now unstuck dipstick. Continue motion until dipstick full retired from dipstick tube. Look wonderously at dispick and consider how long it took you to figure out such a basic operation.Carry on with inspection procedure. Return dipstick to tube. Remember to carry out same process each time you check engine for oil... SIMPLEZ
