Hello, does anyone have any experience of having their defender chassis treated with Dinitrol?

Many thanks
Simon

I did mine myself. I have a 90 and got 5litres of their cavity wax in the chassis and the bulkhead. This was about 3 years ago.

I used an endoscope to look
In the chassis a couple of weeks ago and it is still a waxy layer on the metal.

I am going to put more in this year :)

I have only used the spray in clear dinitrol wax on the underside of mk1 escort. worked well over the years and can see through so beats underseal

Dinitrol is good and what you use depends upon the state of your chassis. If there is some age and rust to it on the inside hose it out out, get it dried, and use their cavity rust converter product (RC900) - don't try to pump in the RC800 - it is latex based for brushing only only - use that on the external part for rust conversion. Dinitrol ML cavity wax for the inside of the chassis or a cheaper option might be to just pump in lots of Waxoyl. Exterior chassis surfaces worth doing in the proper Dinitrol products for coverage and stone chip - these are not sticky unlike Tetraseal and other products (never do the sticky stuff). Also think it is worth doing yourself so you know its really been done fastidiously. You can also consider drilling a couple of holes in the rear cross member so you can poke a hose in and really flush through the chassis

I'm was recounting 'how I should have done it with hindsight' - I got someone else to do it (£500) but was unconvinced on the internal treatment used possibly because of my naturally untrusting nature. I now have a compressor - sealey injection gun, and can now do the internal Waxoyl treatment very easily and cheaply. They did however do a great job on the externals with the Dinitrol stuff.

Yeah not thing I would say is waxoyl does eventual fit away from the underlying metal like a scab, which can allow water in.

I kind of like the temporary nature of waxoil.

It makes me check over the chassis each year. Something I know I wouldn’t do with anything else.

Early summer last year I got my 300TDI 110 sw on a friends 4 poster car lift, I lost 3 day’s of my life under her, 21 yrs of no protection, she had just had a rear quarter before I got her, wire brush, big screwdriver and an air line, it took a day to prepare, another 1/2 day rust killing on the outside, then a day spraying interior wax inside and exterior and then 1/2 day doing the exterior wax, I used 1L rust killer, I should have gone over it again, 8 cans of interior wax, really wanted another, 7 cans of exterior wax, top tip, don’t leave masking tape on for a week with the vehicle outside, it’s a right barsteward to get off, you definitely need a spray suit, gloves and mask x 3, these weren’t long days, but put it against £4000 for a galvanised chassis fitted, I’d do it again. Do it yourself.
Good luck.

I hope you don’t mind me asking a question within this thread....
I plan on wax injecting my chassis this summer.
Is it best to pressure wash the inside of the chassis? Or would this most likely trap water in the chassis and then trap it for ever (or until it rusts its way out) with a wax coating?
Cheers all.

Pressure wash it , drill holes in the dips of the chassis then pop in a blind grommet. You can use the holes to inject the dinitrol.

Thanks for that Mick, might even have a go this weekend seeing it is going to be a warm one.
